A Serene Stroll Through Mepkin Abbey | Hutch & Lanie’s Engagement Session


There’s something timeless and sacred about Mepkin Abbey; it perfectly aligns with Hutch and Lanie's relationship. Tucked away in the quiet woods of Moncks Corner, this peaceful stretch of land provided the perfect setting for thier engagement session. With its oak-draped paths, sweeping river views, and tranquil gardens, every corner of the abbey echoed the ease and warmth these two share together. Tangled up in all the serenity and beauty of this place was abundance of wildlife...like alligators and snakes. Gorgeous location but watch your surrounding, ha!


From the moment they arrived, Hutch and Lanie brought such a natural joy and steadiness to the day. They were laser focused on each other all while soaking in the stillness that makes Mepkin feel like a world all its own. It was the kind of afternoon that didn’t need much direction—just two people completely at ease in each other’s company. Fun fact, Monks pray over this location daily and you can totally feel the peace it provides. This location would be a gorgeous wedding venue!


Their love is gentle but rooted—it was precious to watch. And while the abbey is known for its spiritual peace, I think what made it feel even more sacred that day was witnessing the quiet, confident way these two love each other. What could get a wedding photographer more excited for the wedding day than the bride and groom displaying their true love and personailites for me to photograph at the engagement session?!


Hutch and Lanie will be tying the knot in April 2026 in a sweet southern town just a few hours from Charleston, and I already know their wedding day will carry the same thoughtfulness and grace that filled this engagement session, with a few nods of creative direction from what they have explained to me. I love nothing more than an unorthodox wedding.


I couldn’t be more honored to be part of this journey with them.
