Autumn & Matt's Nashville Maternity Session at Centennial Park.
When people think about maternity photos in Nashville, they often picture open fields or countryside locations. While those are always beautiful, there is something so timeless and elegant about a session at Centennial Park.
I recently met up with Autumn and Matt for their maternity session at the Parthenon, and it honestly couldn't have been a more perfect evening.
One of the reasons I love Centennial Park is because it offers so much variety without having to drive all over Nashville. Within just a short walk, we were able to photograph in front of the iconic Parthenon, wander through gardens filled with blooming hydrangeas, and stop by the water for a completely different look and feel.
The hydrangeas were absolutely stunning during their session. Their soft white and green blooms were in full bloom and created the dreamiest backdrop. Combined with the elegant architecture of the Parthenon and the lush greenery throughout the park, every area felt like its own unique location. The sun just above the Parthenon during their last set of photos was an unpaid actor, ha!
Autumn looked absolutely beautiful, and watching the way Matt looked at her throughout the session was one of my favorite parts of the evening. There was so much excitement and anticipation as they talked about meeting their baby boy soon. You could feel how ready they are to step into this next chapter together.
One thing I always tell my clients is that maternity sessions don't need to feel stiff or overly posed. My goal is to create a relaxed experience where couples can simply enjoy being together while I document the connection between them.
Some of my favorite images from this session weren't the perfectly posed portraits. They were the little in-between moments...the smiles, the laughter, the way Matt instinctively reached for Autumn's belly, and the quiet moments where they simply soaked in the reality that they're about to become parents.
The Parthenon always brings such a classic and sophisticated feel to photos. The grand columns and beautiful architecture create a timeless backdrop that photographs beautifully in every season. It's one of those Nashville locations that never goes out of style.
What makes Centennial Park especially wonderful for maternity sessions is the variety. Within one location, you have elegant architecture, winding garden paths, blooming flowers, scenic water features, open green spaces, and some of the prettiest light in Nashville.
As the evening went on, the park seemed to glow. The soft summer light filtering through the trees, the hydrangeas in bloom, and the peaceful water views created the perfect setting for documenting this season of anticipation and joy.
There is something incredibly special about maternity sessions. They capture a season that feels long while you're living it but passes by so quickly once your little one arrives. These photographs become a reminder of all the excitement, hope, and love that existed before your baby's first breath.
Autumn and Matt, thank you for trusting me to document such a meaningful season in your lives. It was such a joy spending the evening with you both, and I cannot wait to see you step into parenthood.
